The BSF intensified in guarding the IB in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha Election

Shillong, March 26: The Border Security Force has intensified its vigil at border in Meghalaya despite large number of troops being deployed in election duty in different parts of country.

Last week remained very eventual for the sentinels of border in curbing trans-border crimes and smuggling. Several Special operations were launched by BSF Troops deployed in East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya

In one of these operations BSF troops seized tea 2825 kg and dry betel nuts 2000 kg worth Rupees more than 14.5 lakhs on the bank of Piyang river near Dawki Bridge on International Border on 21st March’2019.

The BSF has also intensified its extra vigil along International Border keeping in view the forth coming Lok Sabha elections. The Border Security Force has increased its domination on the Indo-Bangladesh Border to prevent illegal smuggling of liquor and cattle through International Border in Meghalaya and succeeded to seize 15 cattle worth more than Rs.3 Lakhs on 24thMarch’ 2019  at Lyngkhat in East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya.

In addition the BSF troops seized approx. 133 cattle, Liquor 33 bottles and other contraband items including wooden log and boat, cloths, fish, Biri, soap, coal, betel nut and betel leaf and other eatable items worth more than 49 Lakhs while being smuggled from India to Bangladesh on the International Border in Meghalaya during last week in more than 55 incidents.
