Shillong, March 09: To remindthe people of India about the great people who have been instrumental in bringing India thus far in its evolutionary journey and to remember the glorious culture and history of India, nation is observing upcoming 75th Independence day as ‘AazadikaAmritMahotsav’.
The official journey of this Mahotsav commenced on 12thMarch 2021 which started a 75-week countdown to our 75th anniversary of independence and will end post a year on 15th August 2023. The BSF Meghalaya on this auspicious occasion remembers those brave souls of BSF who laid their lives in the line of duty.
Many of the martyrs hailed from Meghalaya state are source of constant inspiration for Meghalaya youth to join security forces and deliver services to mother India. The following Meghalaya hailed martyrs will remain cherished in our hearts forever.
CTU, Ullum R Marak of 13 Bn BSF attained martyrdom fighting with militants at Chamanu, Tripura on 26th Sept 1999. He was resident of Village:- BajengDobe, PS:- Bajeng, Dist :- East Garo Hills.
NK Kabindra Mark of 91 Bn BSF attained martyrdom fighting with militants in Bandipur, J&K on 19th Sept 1990. He belonged to Village:-SingwellGuri, PO:- RajaBala , Dist :- Garo Hills.
CT Suphish Momin of 92 Bn BSF attained martyrdom fightingwith militantsat Zinakadal, Srinagaron 1st July 1992. He was from Village Shyam Nagar, PO:-Phulbari, PS- Bajeng, Dist :- West Garo Hills.
CT/WC Bal Bahadur Gurung of 86Bn BSF attained martyrdom fightingwith militantsat Ukhrul-Imphal roadon 06th June 1986. He belonged to Village Chapa Hati No.1, PO- MohendraGanjDist :- West Garo Hills.
CT Mukesh B Mark of 92 Bn BSF attained martyrdom fightingwith militantsat Zinakadal, Srinagaron 01stAug 1992. He was resident of Village:-Kotchiegire, PO:- Rajwala, Dist :- West Garo Hills.
CT B BChetry of 162Bn BSF attained martyrdom fightingwith militantsat village-Groundi (J&K)on 21stFeb 1995. He hailed from Village :- Lal Chand Basti, PO:- Jabukathal, Shillong.
