Shillong, April 16: The BSF troops deployed at Chickenbari, South West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya launched a special operation and seized 6 Kg of Ganja while it was being smuggled to Bangladesh. The alert BSF troops noticed movement of smugglers in thick vegetated area near the International Border. The smugglers were challenged but they managed to escape from the spot taking advantages of thick vegetation & undulating ground.
The BSF has increased vigil to deny any smuggling of psychotropic substances and narcotics and alcohol to Bangladesh and in this task BSF is also seeking the help of BGB. The biggest impact of increased border patrolling and fencing has resulted in a sharp dip in cases of this type of smuggling.Seized item handed over to concerned department for further disposal and legal action as per law of the land.
