Shillong, November 26: The Border Security force once again showing it’s alertness on the international border, seized 31 kgs Ganja on Saturday evening. Acting on a tip off about suspected movement of Ganja loaded Tata Pick up troops of Border Security Force, laid a joint mobile check post with Meghalaya Police.
During the operation cautious BSF troops with local Police carried out anti-smuggling joint operation and seized one Tata Pick up loaded with 31 kgs Ganja worth Rs. 3,10,000/- and apprehended three Indian nationals with the suspected vehicle.
The suspicious persons tried to escape but BSF troops nabbed them and recovered Ganja in huge quantity concealed in the vehicle. Apprehended persons have been identified as Md Majibur Rahman, Mr Shekhaful Islam, they are all from Assam, Party also seized Tata Pick up bearing No. – AS-01-GC 5115,.
The BSF has stepped up its special drive against the smugglers and has intensified its operations on the Indo-Bangladesh Border to prevent nefarious design of trans-border criminal to maintain tranquility in bordering areas of Meghalaya state. The apprehended persons and seized items handed over to the concerned department for further disposal.
