The DC Ri Bhoi District order magisterial inquiry in food poisoning occurred at Nongkya Village

Shillong, May 30: The District administration of Ri Bhoi District said that eight people lost their lives due to food poisoning at  Nongkya village that occurred on Sunday.

The Administration has arranged for one medical team to be stationed in Nongkya village with all the requisite facilities to ensure prompt medical services.

The Deputy Commissioner and the superintendent  of police of the district has visited the bereaved families at Nongkya villages apart from visit to all the four medical facilities, that is in Nongpoh Civil Hospital, Bethany Hospital, Nongpoh, Umsning CHC and Bhoirymbong CHC all in Ri Bhoi District where the victims of food poisoning were admitted and have taken stock of the situation.

As per the information, most of the patients are stable and are being kept under observation. A Magisterial Inquiry to be headed by ADM, Ri Bhoi District is ordered in the matter. Police will also conduct an inquiry into the matter.

Smti  Roshan Warjri, Health Minister, Government  of Meghalaya also visited and interacted with the victims of food poisoning in Nongpoh CH as well as in Umsning CHC.
