Shillong, September 13: The FKJGP Mawsynram Circle, a people’s organization, social movements, and concerned citizens of Meghalaya, strongly wish that our Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma should have an ability to do something for the hope of the people of Mawsynram C&RD Block to carry a portion on the Assembly to discuss about the issues related the demands of our organizations, citizens groups and people’s movement and clear proposals have been submitted to the Government for up gradation of Mawsynram C&RD into Civil Sub-Division, in order to raise the concerns of the peoples, positions, and demands representing the people of Mawsynram Block and interests at the summit.
In the other hand, the federation urges Mr Pynshngaiñ N. Syiem the local MLA and MDC of Mawsynram Constituency and CEM of KHADC, to draw the attention on the session, to raise a special motion at the Assembly on the issues related of demanding for upgradation Mawsynram C&RD Block into Civil Sub-Division. We ask our MLA/MDC to unequivocally respect and support the voices of the people in Mawsynram Constituency and C&RD Block as a whole.
We have tried to meet him these days, but due to not having a stipulated time for him and busy attending the session, we didn’t get a chance to get in touch with the MLA. In this regard, we make a statement here to appeal our concern MLA and MDC to look into this matter concerning towards the important of the rural people and to press in forcibly to the Government of Meghalaya to indicate that why Mawsynram C&RD Block needed to be upgraded into Civil Sub-Division.
That within the vicinity of Mawsynram C&RD Block which is one of the oldest Block in the State covering a vast area around 166 Villages. The people residing in these villages have to travel all the way to Shillong even for their small official works and in that process they have to spend monetarily and besides this they are losing their valuable time which they could have spent for cultivation or business purposes.
While compared to 4 C&RD Blocks in the State, which is recently upgraded into civil sub-division by the Government of Meghalaya, Mawsynram C&RD Block is one of the oldest amongst them which was established secondly in the State before and most of the people reside is in the Border village with Bangladesh, but Mawsynram Block have been treated as stepmother by Sohra Civil Sub-Division instead of up gradation and create the developments strategies. People here in Mawsynram Block are also facing lots of problems due to lack of employment especially educated youth.
When Mawsynram C&RD Block is upgraded into Civil Sub-Divisional office, then the benefits of the people residing in Mawsynram Block will cater their needs and also it will open an opportunities to the local youth to get an employment. Law and Order and Administration will help and erased all worries to the people to finish their works only at the Sub-Divisional office. The people of the Block will be benefited in terms of Social, Economic, Politico-Administrative, Geographical, Tourism and the expectations of the people will be,
The area need Proper Roads and Connectivity,improved Transportation system to other parts of the State,easier Access to the Government Schemes and Government support ,access to equitable Water and power supply, proper road and Transportation. Law and order situation will improve. The new set –up will cater to the all-round development of the people of the area. More employment opportunities, especially for the educated unemployed youths of the area. Access to good quality education for the people of the area.
It may be recall on the Common Platform organized by our organization before the Election in the year 2008 & 2013, we kept in mind and remember that he spoke about Civil Sub-Division in front of the public and said that once he have been selected as the MLA, the first and foremost agenda is to demand the Government of Meghalaya to upgrade Mawsynram C&RD Block into Civil Sub-Division. We thought that this is the right time for our local MLA and MDC to spoke about this issue on the Assembly within these days.
With respect to the statements made above, we appeal your kindness to look into the matter concerning towards the people of Mawsynram Block, the citizens of Meghalaya, and we would like to conclude this brief point with heartiest grateful and it is hope that once this matter has been brought to your kind attention for enhancing the quality of developments and will get the required response from your end otherwise it will be forced to adopt measures in consonance with its demands for the importance of the Public Grievances.
