The MLCU is concern rise in crimes against women in Mairang areas

Mairang May 26: With the soaring rate of crimes against women and minors in the state, an urgent need to sensitise and create awareness about the issues concerning women and minors,  the Department of Social Work,  Martin Luther Christian University  today performed a series of street plays in the Market area of Mairang.

The street plays were done to emphasise the rise in crimes against women and children,the students also showcased the kind of help and support that women and minors can avail to.

Speaking to one of the faculty of the Department,  Ms N Marwein,  she informed that one of the reasons for the department to choose Mairang as one of the places to do these Street play was because of the concern in the rise of  crimes against women and minor in this region.

She spoke specifically about the recent murder in Mairang of a 7 year old child by her own uncle on May 7,  2017, and Ms Marwein,  added that such news are saddening.  The Department and the University as a whole are doing their best to create awareness and to sensitise people in the region about these crimes and fight against them. The street plays were performed by the students of BSW 4th semester,  Social Work department.
