Shillong, March 26: Shillong Military Station Garden Competition & Flower Show 2017 was held from 22 Mar to 25 Mar 2017 at Garrison Ground. The first such competition was conducted in the year 1989 and since then it is an Annual event, at Shillong Garrison.
Competition was held in three Categories ie Gardens, Potted plants and Flower arrangements and there was an overwhelming response.
Competition was judged by eminent horticulturist from Shillong Agri-Horticultural Society led by Mr V Singhania, Mrs FN Sun alongwith lady wives of senior Army Officers. Competition commenced on 22 Mar 17 with judging of gardens of various Army establishments in Shillong.
Potted Plant competition was held on 24 Mar 17 where approximately 400 entries under 17 different categories competed.
Culmination of the event was the grand ceremony at Garrison Ground with number of cultural and martial art events and Military band display. Lt Gen DS Ahuja, General Officer Commanding 101 Area was the Chief guest, at the event. The General Officer Commanding felicitated the participants and Veer Naris who were special invitees at the show.
