Shillong, April 30L The Steering Committee, Unified Peace Movement for Garo Hills (UPMGH) submitted the memorandum to the Governor of Meghalaya Dr K K Paul. In the memorandum they have stress only one point about the law and order in Garo Hills .
In the Memorandum the UMPGH said that together with your Government, we, church leaders o f all denominations in Garo Hills, the Civil society and all NGOs, have taken serious note of steady deterioration of peace and Normalcy in Garo Hills in recent times. It is a matter of grave concern that armed outfits have mushroom splinter groups are in the offing law and orders is fast slipping out of our and their seem to be a total break downs of administration.
There is a sense and insecurity in the mind of the public, extortion, demand note, illegal collection, kidnapping etc, seem to be the order of the day.
Therefore, on 25″ January, 2014, the Unified Peace Movement for Garo Hills (UPMGH), Consisting of Church leaders of different denominations, A.chik Mothers ‘ Association (AMA), the Senior Citizens, the Sentinel for Human Rights, GSU, FKJGP, AYWO, TGCSU, ADE, AAYF, AICU and GHSMC was foimed in Tura.
Its only motive and objective was to make a concerted effort together once again to usher in peace and normalcy back to Garo Hiils. The umbrella organization in its meeting unanimously took the resolution to help in facilitating youth who have joint joined under ground to return to the main stream.(SP News)
