Shillong, September 24: Mr Ronni V Lyngdoh minister incharge Urban affair government of Meghalaya today made his maiden visit to Iewduh the biggest market in the state along with his team of officers to have his firsthand knowledge on how to working together with the Hima Mylliem in order to bring cleanliness in this market.
After touring around this market told the media that, he wish to see that this market should be free from the used of plastic, he will also advice the Syiem of Hima Mylliem that while issuing NOC during the renewal of trading license by the trader, the Syiem has the power to terminate the license if they are no complying with the order of the Hima.
The purpose of this visit to Iewduh is to seek the cooperation of the Hima in collaboration with the state government how to bring cleanliness in this market, the Market belong to the Hima Mylliem the state government is offering its assistance if they need so. From the state government they will try to assist the Hima.
On the leaking pipes in all the Iewduh area he inform that the PHE department will construct with the new water tank since the tank that was there today is built during the British time which need replacement. The minister assured the Hima that he will take up the issued with the PHE minister how to do with this pipes that has become a stumbling block for the commuter in the Market.
The Syiem of Hima Mylliem Pa’im Ricky Nelson Syiem said that he was very pleased that minister has come to visit the market to see what is need to be done for the development of this market, on the plastic bag he said that they have received the instruction from the central government that only thus plastic which is below 50 micron are allowed to be used but thus below 40 micron are prohibited.
The minister was accompanied by the official from the urban affair department, the director urban affair Mr B Dutta, Secretary Mr S Kharmalki, the Chief Executive officer of the Shillong Municipal Board Mr B S Sohlya and the myntri of the Hima Mylliem.
